Mortuaries Bridgeport Nebraska

Our History

Lorren R. North and his wife Belia owned and operated a Forest Lawn Park Cemetery until 1922 when he donated it to Morrill County. In 1925 the cemetery was transferred to the city of Bridgeport and named Oregon Trail Memorial Park in 1934. In 1929, Bridgport Memorial Chapel was established as North Funeral Home. It was purchased in 1934 by Walter Canaday and called Canaday Funeral Home. In 1955 Bob Holechek bought the funeral home and changed the name to Holechek Funeral Home. The business again changed hands in 1970 when it was purchased by Norman Christensen. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel purchased the funeral home 1991 and completely remodeled and modernized the facility.
